All-night ticket grab

On this day in 1977, tickets went on sale for a concert at the San Diego Sports Arena that was scheduled to take place in March. (It later was rescheduled for June.) Thousands of people waited outside the arena box office, some at least a day in advance, to purchase their tickets. A local TV station was on the scene reporting about the crowds and interviewing young people.
